No second baseman in the history of the game has won more Golden Gloves than Roberto Alomar. His fielding and .336 hitting propelled the Cleveland Indians to the 2001 post season. Perhaps hoping some of Alomar's good luck would cling to one of his bats, fellow Indians teammate Jim Thome adapted one of Alomar's bats for his own use during the 2000-2001 season. The Louisville Slugger M356 bat shows outstanding use with a crack in the lower handle. The barrel has many ball marks with stitch impressions with blue ink transfers and white leather ball scuffs. Cleat marks are visible and the lower handle has been padded and taped in a spiral pattern to enhance the grip. A light coat of Pine tar is found on the mid to upper handle. Use by Jim Thome was established by both the adhesive tape and padding which is unique to Thome and the location of cleat marks on the left barrel which matched established Thome bats from this period. Additionally Jim Thome used the M356 bat during the 2000-01 seasons. Roberto Alomar has signed the barrel in silver pen adding his number “12”. Letter of Authenticity (1B05403) from PSA/DNA.
