Standing tall on Liberty Island in New York harbor is the Statue of Liberty as can be seen in this 5.375 X 2.875 original sepia photograph that is hand notated and initialed by the photographer “Leaving N.Y. Harbor, Aug 22, 1907,” matching the printed date and stamped name on verso. This is an interesting view shared with a large ship in the foreground of ‘Lady Liberty,” built by famed French sculptor Auguste Bartholdi and gifted to America from France. Since being inaugurated in 1886, the Statue of Liberty has welcomed generations of immigrants arriving from abroad.
