An Argentine Marxist revolutionary, author, physician, diplomat and guerrilla leader Ernesto "Che" Guevara was a major figure in the Cuban Revolution and quickly became a symbol of rebellion and counter culture which captured the world during the late 50's and early 60's. Led by Che Guevara and Raul Castro the revolution ended as they seized the cities of Santa Clara and Santiago de Cuba on January 1, 1959 ousting the former regime. Presented in this lot is a 3 page stapled contract of sale document on Cuban Ministry of Industries letterhead. Che Guevara has signed the last page as the acting Minister of Industries. A typed memorandum sheet from the Ministry of Industries is also included in this lot. Both documents have been stamped by the Ministry of Industries.

DS in Spanish, signed “Che,” three pages, 8.5 x 13, July 13, 1962. Untranslated document concerning the purchase and sale of a plastic bottle company. Signed at the conclusion by Che Guevara as Minister of Industries and countersigned by the seller, Josefina Tellez Sanches, as well as two additional officials. Also includes a typed Ministry of Industries memorandum signed by Dr. Luis Cardenas. At this time Guevara, in addition to holding tremendous Military and Political influence over Cuba, also held great power over the Cuban economy and his primary goal was instituting agrarian land reform, through his appointed position of Minister of Industries by Fidel castro.  This important document was signed between the Bay of Pigs and the Cuban missile crisis. two important events in World history.  Regarding the Cuban Revolutionary victory during the Bay of Pigs invasion, author Tad Szulz gives much credit to Che, stating,  "The revolutionaries won because Che Guevara, as the head of the Instruction Department of the Revolutionary Armed Forces in charge of the militia training program, had done so well in preparing 200,000 men and women for war."
