All-Star catcher Randy Hundley wore this blue pinstriped, white pullover home jersey during his second stint with the Chicago Cubs in 1976. Hundley played for the Cubs from 1966 to 1973, before returning for the 1976 and 1977 seasons to end his 14-season career. Hundley appeared sparingly in those two seasons, acting primarily as a de-facto coach and backup backstop. Hundley’s son, Todd, followed in his father’s footsteps, becoming a two-time All-Star catcher with the New York Mets during the 1990s.

This jersey has a circular Cubs logo 6 ½ inches in diameter sewn on the left chest area of the jersey. Hundley’s number “5”, worn only during the 1976 season, is sewn on the back in blue tackle twill. A Cubs alternate logo is sewn on the left sleeve. A “76” tag is sewn on the front left tail of this jersey, while Wilson size “42” and “5 76 2 42” tags are sewn on the back inside collar of the v-necked jersey. Please note that, according to Dave Miedema, this jersey was recycled for use in the minor leagues, where the “5” on the back was restored and the special 1976 season patch on the right sleeve was removed. This was not an uncommon practice during the era. Hundley signed the front of this jersey in black marker, adding the inscription “69 Cubs”. This item comes with a COA from JSA (S81048) for the signature and a LOA from noted game used jersey expert Dave Miedema for game use.
