In 1942, the New York Giants finished in third place in the National League thanks to the strong hitting of two legendary Hall of Famers, Mel Ott and Johnny Mize. Ott, who also managed the team, hit 30 home runs, with 93 RBI and 109 walks, while Mize smashed 26 homers and knocked in 110 runs. Their mark of 85 wins was their best since 1937, when they fell in the World Series to the New York Yankees.
This “Association Official” baseball has the signature of 19 members of the Giants placed on its leathery hide. Hall of Famers Mel Ott, Carl Hubbell, and Johnny Mize have all signed it, while Hal Schumacher and Babe Young having signed the sweet spot. Other signatures include Dick Bartell, Bill McGee, Babe Barna, Billy Jurges, Bubber Jonnard, Bill Lohrmann, Tom Sunkel, Ace Adams, Mickey Witek, Harry Danning, Bill Voisell, Harry Feldman, Bob Carpenter, and Ray Berres. The signatures on this ball have been written in black pen. This item comes with a LOA from JSA (B31686).
