Former pitcher Wilbur Wood came up through the Boston Red Sox organization, appearing in seven games between 1961 and 1962 and his official rookie season of 1963 before being purchased by the Pittsburgh Pirates in September of 1964. Wood would be traded to the Chicago White Sox following the 1966 season, where he would spend the rest of his career that ended in 1978. Wood finished with a 164-156 record and an ERA of 3.24.

This offered red nylon Chicago White Sox warm-up jacket was worn by Wilbur Wood during the 1971 – 1973 seasons. This size 42 button-down jacket is made of nylon and was manufactured by Wilson and it features the White Sox diagonal “SOX” logo sewn on in white tackle twill on the upper right chest. The collar, sleeve ends and waist are lined with a red and white striped ribbed material that has various holes and fraying. The front of the jacket also has two pockets. The back of the jacket is blank and the Wilson size 42 tag is sewn on the inside back collar with Wood’s number “28” hand written in faded black marker. This jacket displays moderate to heavy use with the white tackle twill and white striping appearing as a toned cream-color. There are various marks and abrasions throughout the jacket and game used jersey expert Dave Miedema notes that the “jacket is attributed to 1971-73 based on red color and style of Wilson tag. While this could have been worn in any of the three years (and possibly multiple years), the best chance is 1971, as Wood’s jersey size that year was also 42.” This jacket comes with a LOA from noted game used jersey expert Dave Miedema.
