JULY 19TH AUCTION
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 7/20/2013
As one of the premiere pitchers of his day, Christy Mathewson, was almost always included in card sets from the dead ball era. The 1913-15 Pinkerton’s were a printed version of the famous, and scarce, T5 Pinkerton cabinet cards from 1911. While these are printed versions of the same images used with its predecessor, these cards are no less rare or desirable. This example of Matty has been graded by SGC 10 POOR 1, with evenly rounded corners, some reverse paper loss and multiple creases, one which dissects the card diagonally from the lower left to upper right corner. This example also contains the scorecard reverse, equally as difficult to find as its blank backed brethren. Graded by SGC 10 POOR 1.
