In 1955, Elston Howard became the first African-American player on the New York Yankees roster. He went on to be a 12-time All-Star and won six World Series titles before retiring in 1968. His best season came in 1963, when he clubbed 28 homers to win the American League MVP award, also a first for an African-American ballplayer. His number 32 was retired by the Yankees and he passed away in 1980 at the young age of 51. Howard signed this 1967 Topps baseball card in blue ballpoint pen. Card has been certified authentic and encapsulated by PSA/DNA.
