Superb game-used bat from the man who will be forever known for breaking Babe Ruth’s single season home run record. At the time Roger Maris was wielding this bat, he was trying to get out from under the attention showered on him three years before when he surpassed Ruth’s record and concentrate on playing ball. During the 1964 season Maris did just that, hitting .281 with 26 home runs and turning in one of his best seasons as a Yankee. That fall he hit a memorable home run in Game 6 of the World Series, his last with New York. This Hillerich & Bradsby K90 matches the specifications of three orders Maris placed from September 1964 to March 1965. Evidence of heavy use can be seen in the form of many stitch impressions and ball marks. Paint streaks from the bat rack are visible as are cleat impressions. A light coat of pine tar can be seen on the handle and a crack on the center brand has been professionally repaired. Over all the bat has a nice warm color that compliments the wide grained wood that Maris specifically had the factory make his bats from. PSA/DNA sticker number 1B04109 is affixed to the barrel end. Letter of Authenticity from PSA/DNA who have given this outstanding bat a grade of GU 9.5.
