The 1978 New York Yankees finished the regular season tied with the Boston Red Sox at 99-63, which forced a one-game playoff. The Yanks beat the Red Sox in Boston, 5-4, to win the AL East crown. They then beat the Kansas City Royals for AL pennant and won the franchise’s 22nd World Series title by defeating the Los Angeles Dodgers in six games. Twenty-five members of the team signed in black and blue ballpoint pen this official Rawlings American League Lee MacPhail Baseball including Manager Billy Martin across the Sweet Spot. Other notable signatures include Yogi Berra, Jim Catfish Hunter, Rich Gossage, Bucky Dent and Chris Chambliss. Note: The Reggie Jackson signatures appear to be a clubhouse version.
