Encapsulated and assessed "Authentic" by PSA. Hall of Famer. This is a quality example of an important Babe Ruth "strip card." Ruth paced the American League in home runs in 1918 and 1919 while a member of the Boston Red Sox. After that season, he was sold to the New York Yankees, where he once again led the circuit in home runs with 54 – almost tripling the total posted by his nearest competitor, George Sisler. The offered card pictures a swinging Ruth in what appears to be a Red Sox uniform, but the caption clearly identifies him as a member of the Yankees and calls him the "Home Run King" instead of employing a more routine description as a position player. This significant collectible emanates from a time span that introduced few other Ruth cards, and it hails from a period that witnessed a historic career transition. The hand-cut piece displays a few, barely discernible horizontal wrinkles that don't disrupt the colorful image.
