Presented is a 2001 Texas Rangers alternate jersey worn by Alex Rodriguez during his first season for the Rangers. A-Rod signed with Texas prior to the 2001 season with the largest contract at the time. Texas had begun the “alternate” blue jerseys a year earlier, and carried this into the 2001 season. These jerseys could be worn at home or on the road. Across the front is the name “TEXAS” with “RODRIGUEZ” arched across the back with his number “3” below. All are in white-on-blue-on red tackle twill. On the left sleeve is the Texas state flag embroidered patch, with the Rawlings logo below. The number has a bold, blue sharpie signature “Alex Rodriguez #3 2001.” On the lower front tail is the Rawlings Authentic” manufacturers tag, with attached “1 INCH EXTRA LENGTH,” “2 INCH EXTRA LENGTH,” “SIZE 50” AND “SET 1 2001” tags. During his three seasons in Texas, Rodriguez hit 156 home runs, and winning the first of his three MVP awards in 2003. This jersey has been attractively matted and framed to a dimension off approximately 27.5 x 38 inches. Accompanying this item is an LOA from PSA/DNA for the signature, and an LOA from Grey Flannel Collectibles for the jersey.
