Billed as "Showdown in Motown," Tyson took on Andrew Golota on October 20, 2000. As with many of his fights, Tyson opened up aggressively and dropped Golota to the canvas with a powerful right hook toward the end of Round 1. Golota was able to get back up and survived the round though he sustained a cut above his left eye. Tyson continued the onslaught throughout the second round easily winning it on all three judge’s scorecards. In between round's two and three, Golota, who had sustained a concussion, a fractured left cheekbone and a herniated disc during the fight, informed his corner that he would not continue despite pleas from his trainer. Golota’s refusal to answer the third round bell was clearly a testament to the devastating punching power of Tyson.
These black Everlast boxing trunks (size XL) were worn by Tyson during his showdown with Golota. Along with photos showing Tyson wearing these trunks, Tyson signed and added the date these trunks were used, verifying their use, in fine-point silver Sharpie on the front right side. The signature and date inscription have been authenticated by PSA/DNA.
