The Italian Argentine soccer legend Raimundo Orsi was presented with this medal after leading host country Italy to victory in the 1934 FIFA World Cup. Orsi scored three goals in the tournament, with none more important than his 81st minute equalizer in the final match against Czechoslovakia in Rome. A goal in extra time from striker Angelo Schiavo gave Italy just enough breathing room to hold off a dangerous Czechoslovakian side 2-1 after extra time. In a long and illustrious career, Orsi earned 13 caps for Argentina and 35 for Italy while claiming five scudetto titles with Italian powerhouse Juventus.
This offered medal is silver in color and circular, with a high relief etching of a dribbling soccer player on the front. The reverse side of this medal is etched with “Campeonato Mondiale Di Calcio Raimundo Orsi FIFA 1934”. This medal is in great condition. This item comes with a LOA confirming it is part of the Rony Almeida Soccer Collection.
