This scarce test issue is one of only five copies graded by that company. Distributed in very limited quantities prior to issuance of the ten "Playing Tips" carton set of inserts in the New York area, this tough relic obviously earned its keep. The card measures 7-1/4" in overall length pictures the young and smiling New York Giants outfielder holding a bottle of the endorsed beverage on the obverse and carries his bio on the back with the knowledge Wille Mays was "the kid everybody likes." Until several years ago, this test issue was a virtually non-existent until a small group of Mays cards was discovered about 20 years ago, all which contained moderate amounts of water damage. This appears to be one of those cards, and exhibits edge wear including light paper loss and light black silt. Still, this is one of the rarest test issue cards available, with less than a dozen or so known, this is a golden opportunity for a type collector to acquire this example from one of the 1950's rarest test issues.
