A regular fixture and constant presence with the Cleveland Indians for decades after his playing days were through, Hall of Fame pitcher Bob Feller could be spotted sitting on a short stool in the Indians bullpen along the left field line during spring training games at Hi Corbett Field in Tucson from the late 1950s to the early 1990s. Feller wore this dark blue Cleveland cap with the red logo C the team used from 1973 to 1977. Feller must have used this one for a pretty long while thereafter. In a letter accompanying the hat dated December 13, 1984, he writes to its recipient Thomas; “Here is the cap I have used in and around the U.S.A. for the past year. Hope you enjoy it- I need a new one for 1985, Thanks for your interest, Sincerely, Bob Feller.” The cap shows tremendous wear inside and out, no doubt from seeing a lot of time in the sun. The interior headband is heavily stained with sweat and the bill of the cap is dry and brittle and contains Feller’s #19 written in green marker. The cap has been authenticated by game used uniform expert Dave Miedema and comes with PSA/DNA LOA for Feller’s signature.
