On Opening Day 2013 Major League Baseball paid tribute to the victims of the massacre at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut that took place on December of 2012, with symbolic ribbon patches sewn to the uniforms of all major league players and moments of silence observed in the country’s ballparks before games played from March 31 to April 2. Although he did not pitch that day, Tampa Bay Rays lefty Matt Moore wore this MLB Authentic button-down white mesh home jersey (#EK480793) for the Rays opener against Baltimore on April 2, 2013.The Rays logo with a Ray of Sunshine star is stitched in navy and royal blue tackle twill across the front with a “Town of Newtown” ribbon patch attached on the upper left breast. An MLB Authentic/Majestic size-48 label is adhered to left front shirt tail with a Majestic Cool Base label attached to the seam and the team’s Sting Ray logo patch on the left shoulder sleeve with a “Set 2012” patch on the right front tail. Moore’s name is stitched in blue tackle twill onto a white mesh name plate above his number 55 across the back. Jersey shows moderate wear with a coffee or other beverage stain on the front right side.
