The heart and soul of the Boston Red Sox during a nine-year run with the team that included two World Series titles, it was almost hard to believe Kevin Youkilis would soon be suiting up in Yankees pinstripes. “Youk” ultimately accepted a one-year, $12 million deal with the Bronx Bombers in 2013, which could wind up being his final season in the majors. Ironically, this game used jersey was worn by Youkilis in a 4-1 win over his former Boston team on May 31. Youkilis went 1-for-4 with an RBI single off Jon Lester in the bottom of the fifth inning. The jersey features an “NY” logo on the left chest and Youkilis’ number “36” on the back in navy blue tackle twill. The front tail of the jersey features a “Majestic Authentic Collection” manufacturer’s tag, with a size 50 and “+3 “body” tags attached. A New York Yankees butterfly patch with number “0000002866” also appears on the front tail of the jersey. The jersey shows light evidence of game use and comes with an LOA from Steiner Sports. The jersey also is affixed with an MLB Authentication holographic sticker, number “EK641506” and Steiner Sports holographic sticker, number “192408.”
