No batter in the history of the game was more feared than Ty Cobb. Even at the end of his career, Cobb showed the same magnificent skill at the plate as he did as a young man. During the years 1921 to 1928 from which this bat dates the Georgia Peach, aged 34-41, hit a combined .360! That this type of bat was used by the game's greatest hitter is shown in the records of Hillerich & Bradsby which has narrowed it down to his last 8 seasons. As you would expect from a Ty Cobb bat, this example shows heavy use. Uncracked, it has had a piece of the knob and back barrel professionally replaced. Many ball marks can be seen on the barrel as well as abrasions on the right and left barrel. As befitting a piece of Ty Cobb lumber, cleat marks can be seen. Stone bruises are evident on the front barrel. The engraved label is strong and dark as is Cobb's facsimile signature on the barrel. The "WEATHER SEASONED HAND BONE RUBBED" logo is stamped into the handle to the left of the H&B label. The natural finish ash wood has taken on a warm, glowing patina, befitting a real piece of baseball history such as this. Letter of Authenticity from PSA/DNA and MEARS, who has thoroughly examined this bat and given it a grade of A5.
