Brett Livingstone Strong is one of the most critically acclaimed celebrity artists of the 20th century, setting numerous industry records with his spectacular and highly detailed depictions of the global elite. In 1990, Strong’s portrait of Michael Jackson entitled The Book sold for the vast sum of $2.1 million. Reputedly the only portrait Jackson ever sat for, this piece demolished the previous record for the highest sum paid for a portrait created by a living artist.

Offered in this lot is a treasure-trove of 10 Brett Livingstone Strong Marilyn lithographs. Depicting the voluptuous sex symbol Marilyn Monroe, these minimalist lithographs were originally created in 1984 and thrilled the Monroe estate with a unique depiction of the one-time Mrs. DiMaggio. Strong’s artwork was so well received by the Monroe estate that it bears their official endorsement and features the Monroe estate seal stamped on the lower corner.

These lithographs show Monroe’s face in red and was created as a single-color silkscreen laid on hand-made paper. Monroe’s handprints and footprints, created from a cast of her personal impressions laid in front of Grauman’s Chinese Theatre, are featured on this lithograph. An image of Monroe’s looping and languid signature is located near the top of the lithographs. Brett Livingstone Strong has signed each lithograph in gray pencil. These lithographs measure approximately 31 x 25 inches and are thrilling display pieces offered in a tremendous lot.
