Offered in this lot are 12 lithographed tins of soccer players on the Yugoslavia men’s national soccer team from the 1930 World Cup. Yugoslavia won their group at the World Cup, defeating Brazil 2-1 before wiping out Bolivia by a 4-0 scoreline to advance to the semifinals. Unfortunately for the Europeans, they ran into host nation and eventual champions Uruguay in the semifinals, falling to La Celeste 6-1. The players represented on these lithographed tins include Aleksandar Tirnanic, Ðorde Vujadinovic, Momcilo Ðokic, Milorad Arsenijevic, Ivan Bek, Blagoje Marjanovic, Milovan Jakšic, Dragoslav Mihajlovic, Ljubiša Stefanovic, “Jukovitch”, and “Sekonovitch”. Please note that two tins depict Dragoslav Mihajlovic. Due to differences in transliteration between Serbo-Croato-Slovenian and Spanish, the transliteration of names on the pins does not match the spellings listed above. The tins show a portrait of each player, with “Yugoslavia”, “Finalistas”, and the player names printed on the border of the circular tins. These items show some weathering due to age but are in overall good condition. Each tin measures approximately 1.25 inches in diameter. These items come with a LOA confirming they are part of the Rony Almeida Soccer Collection.
