Offered is a lot of 14 items related to Tom Gola’s Hall of Fame Philadelphia high school and collegiate basketball career. Gola won a Philadelphia Catholic League Championship at LaSalle College High School in the early 1950s, the 1952 NIT Championship with the LaSalle College Explorers and the 1954 NCAA Championship. The first item in this lot is 2¼ x 12 x 15-inch “College Athletics Top Ten” award presented to Gola by the NCAA. The black metal plaque engraved in bronze has the legend “College Athletics Top Ten” across the top and the caption “Thomas J. Gola LaSalle College is recognized as a 1980 Silver Anniversary Honoree A Former Student-Athlete Who Has Achieved Personal Distinction Presented January 7, 1980 National Collegiate Athletic Association”. The award features an engraved head & shoulder portrait of Gola at the right above the seal of the NCAA. The award is mounted on a black cloth matte inside the brown wood “shadowbox” frame. The second item in this lot is a plaque from the “Northeast Philadelphia Hall of Fame” to “Tom Gola, Hall of Fame Basketball Player, Elected Official For making a lasting, significant, and positive impact on the Northeast Philadelphia community Inducted October 18, 2009 Sponsored by the Historical Society of Frankford, in partnership with Holy Family University, the Northeast Times, and State Representative Dennis M. O’Brien”. The award is engraved in gold on a 6 x 8-inch black metal plaque displayed in a 9 x 10¾-inch brown wood frame.

The third item in this lot is a 9 x 11-inch brown wood plaque with silver and black metal accents with the legend “La Salle College Alumni Hall of Athletes Thomas J. Gola, ’55 Inducted May 18, 1984” along with an etched LaSalle basketball team photo. The fourth item in this lot is a 10½ x 13-inch brown and black wood award with a 9 x 11-inch gold metal plaque engraved in black with the legend “Philadelphia Sports Writers Association 81st Annual Dinner Hyatt Cherry Hill, N.J. January 21, 1985 “Philadelphia Living Sports Legend” Tom Gola La Salle College & Philadelphia Warriors Basketball”. The fifth item in this lot is a dual-signed black & white photo collage celebrating the 1954 Association Press All-America basketball team signed by Tom Gola and Bob Pettit in black marker. The 10 x 12-inch print is displayed in a 11½ x 14-inch white painted wood with glass frame. The sixth item in this lot is a Gola’s 2015 Florida automobile silver metal license plate with the registration “NIT MVP” in red letters. The seventh item in this lot is a blue, yellow and gold woven fabric varsity “L” letter for basketball from LaSalle. The eighth item in this lot is a 5½ x 6-inch brown particle board “Herald Plaque” painted in green and white with the shield reading “St. Cyril’s Holy Name Award Father & Son Night 1952 Tom Gola”. The ninth item in this lot is a 5½ x 6-inch brown particle board “Herald Plaque” painted in blue and yellow with the shield reading “Catholic Youth Association Archdiocese of Phila. Basketball Award Tommy Gola”. The 10th item in this lot is a 10-inch silver metal plaque engraved at the center with the caption “25th Anniversary 1952-1977” and a team photo of the LaSalle College 1952 N.I.T. Champions.

The 11th item in this lot is an 18½-inch painted wood plaque with the seal of LaSalle College High School in brown, Columbia-blue and gold and the legend “LaSalle College High School Hall of Fame Thomas J. Gola ‘51” in gold on navy-blue.  The 12th item in this lot is a clear Lucite and brown wood 6 x 6 x 8-inch trophy with the legend “The Palestra” etched in white in the clear Lucite at the top of the brown wood base. At the front of the base is mounted a 2 x 5-inch gold metal plaque engraved in black with the legend “The Palestra Tom Gola La Salle University 1951-54 December 7, 2000”. The 13th item in this lot is a 4½ x 4½ x 10½-inch clear Lucite, black stone and brown wood trophy with the caption “Atlantic 10 Legends Inaugural Class 2013” etched in black in the clear Lucite and a 1 x 2½-inch silver metal plaque engraved in black with the caption “Tom Gola La Salle University 1951-55: 1968-70”. The 14th item in this lot is a 21-inch-high trophy capped by a 6½-inch high gold metal figure of a basketball player holding a ball in his upraised right hand. The statue sits atop a 4-inch gold metal trophy cup, which is mounted on an 8-inch gold metal column. The figure, cup and column are mounted on a 4 x 4¾ x 5¼-inch yellow and brown plastic base. Displayed on the front of the base is a 2½ x 3¼-inch gold metal plaque with the legend engraved in black “To Tom Gola Outstanding Catholic Athlete 1954-55 in Delaware Valley Area Presented by Bristol K of C No. 906”.  The 15th item in this lot is a 15-inch-high gold metal trophy featuring a 5-inch gold metal figure of a basketball player holding a ball in his upraised right hand. The statue sits atop a 6½-inch gold metal trophy cup. (Please note that the figure is broken off the top of the cup but accompanies the trophy.) The trophy is engraved on the front “Ararat Shrine East-West All-Star K.C. Mo. 1955”. This lot comes with a LOA from the Gola family.
