Presented is a lot of 25 signed, original black & white 3½ x5-inch photographs of Major League Baseball players circa 1949. The photos appear to be posed by an amateur photographer outside spring training locations in Florida. The first item in this lot is a photo of former New York Yankees first baseman/outfielder Joe Collins, signed by the player in blue pen in the lower left corner. The second item in this lot is a photo of "Red" Schoendienst, who has signed his name and inscribed “best wishes” in the lower left corner in blue pen. There is a notation on the back in blue ink, “St. Louis Cardinals St. Pete Al Lang Field,” indicating that this photo was taken at the Cardinals’ spring training home. The third item in this lot is a photo of former New York Yankees first baseman George McQuinn, who has signed his name at the bottom in blue pen. The fourth item in this lot is a photo of former New York Yankees catcher Charlie Silvera, which he has inscribed “Best Wishes Charlie” in blue pen. The fifth item in this lot is a photo of former Yankees pitcher Fred Sanford, who has signed his name in blue pen across the top left corner.

The sixth item in this lot is a photo of former New York Yankees right-hander Spud Chandler. He has signed his name in blue pen in the lower left side of the photo. The seventh item in this lot is a photo of Hank Bauer, which the former Yankees right fielder has signed in blue pen in the lower right corner. The eighth item in this lot is a photo of Frankie Crosetti, a former shortstop and third baseman for the Yankees. Crosetti has signed his name in blue pen across the middle of the photo. The ninth item in this lot is a photo of former New York Yankees third baseman and right fielder Tommy Heinrich, who has signed his name in blue pen diagonally across the center of the photo.

The 10th item in this lot is a photo of Clarence Marshall, signed by the former Yankees pitcher in blue pen. The 11th item in this lot is a photo of former Yankees pitcher/outfielder Johnny Lindell, signed by him in blue pen. The 12th item in this lot is a photo of Jerry Coleman, signed by the former Yankees infielder in blue pen. The 13th item in this lot is a photo of middle-infielder Lonny Frey which he has signed in blue pen. The 14th item in this lot is a photo of former New York Yankees catcher (and later manager) Ralph Houk, with his inscription, “Best Wishes Ralph Houk” in blue pen in the upper left corner.

The 15th item in this lot is a photo of Baseball Hall of Famer Enos Slaughter, which he has signed in blue pen across the center. The 16th item in this lot is a photo of former St. Louis Cardinals catcher Joe Garagiola, which he has inscribed “Best – from Joe Garagiola” in blue pen in the center of the photo. The 17th item in this lot is a photo of former New York Yankees batting practice pitcher Emil Moscowitz, who has signed his name in blue pen across the bottom. The 18th item in this lot is a photograph of former Philadelphia Athletics pitcher Lou Brissie, who has signed his name in blue ink in the center of the photo. The 19th item in this lot is a photograph of former Philadelphia Athletics outfielder Barney McCosky, who has inscribed “Best Wishes Barney McCosky” in blue pen across the center of the photo. A notation on the back of the photo lists the location at West Palm, Florida.

The 20th item in this lot is a photograph of Joe “Ducky” Medwick in a warm-up jacket with his baseball glove in hand. The Hall of Famer has signed his name in blue pen in the lower third of the photo. The 21st item in this lot is a photograph of Hall of Fame shortstop Pee-Wee Reese, captured in the batting cage.  He has signed his name in blue ink in the upper right corner of the photo. The 22nd item in this lot is a photograph of Hall of Fame manager Casey Stengel, in his New York Yankees uniform. Stengel has signed his name in blue ink diagonally down the center of the photo. The 23rd item in this lot is a photograph of former New York Yankees broadcaster Mel Allen, in a rare photo of him in a Yankees uniform. Allen has inscribed “I’d better stand to announce – Thanks – Mel Allen” in blue pen in the lower left corner of the photo. The 24th item in this lot is a photo of former New York Yankees relief pitcher Joe Page, in t-shirt and sweatpants. Page has signed his name in blue pen in the lower right corner of the photo. The 25th item in this lot is a photo of Hall of Fame manager Joe McCarthy, in a Boston uniform. McCarthy has signed his name in blue pen in the upper right corner, and inscribed “1949” under his signature. This entire lot has been pre-certified by Beckett Authentication.
