Offered is a lot of two ticket stubs from the June 1928 Republican National Convention, held at Convention Hall in Kansas City, Missouri.  Because President Calvin Coolidge had announced, unexpectedly, that he would not run for re-election in 1928, Commerce Secretary Herbert Hoover became the front-runner for the Republican nomination. Former Illinois Governor Frank Lowden and Kansas Senator Charles Curtis were candidates for the nomination but stood no chance against the popular and accomplished Hoover. Hoover was nominated on the first ballot with 837 votes to 72 for Lowden and 64 for Curtis. In his acceptance speech, Hoover said, "We in America today are nearer to the final triumph over poverty ever before in the history of any land." Hoover defeated the Democratic nominee, Governor Al Smith of New York to win the Presidency that November. Hoover was the last Republican to win a presidential election until 1952.

The first item in this lot is a ticket stub for the first day of the 1928 Republican National Convention, June 12.  The ticket is printed in black and red ink on pink paper and features an engraving of the Kansas City Convention Hall on the front left. This ticket stub has been encapsulated and authenticated by PSA (42271687) and is graded FR 1.5.

The second item in this lot is a ticket stub for the second session of the first day of the 1928 Republican National Convention.  It is printed in black and red ink on pink paper. This ticket stub has been encapsulated and authenticated by PSA (42271688) and is graded VG 3.
