Offered in this lot are two pins celebrating the Uruguayan centennial in 1930. 1930 happened to be the same year Uruguay hosted the inaugural FIFA World Cup, winning the Jules Rimet Trophy on home ground in spectacular fashion. The main stadium of the World Cup was the massive and brand-new Estadio Centenario, built to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Uruguay’s constitution of 1830. The first pin in this lot bears an enameled sky blue and white crest of Uruguay in the center, with high relief etchings reading “1830 Centenario 1930”. The second pin in this lot has a pentagon-shaped head, with a Sun of May radiating out of the top. Etched on this pin is “CNC” and “1830-1930”. These two decorative pins are in great condition. These items come with a LOA confirming they are part of the Rony Almeida Soccer Collection.
