Offered in this lot are a pair of Uruguayan soccer team Penarol fan magazines from 1945 and 1950. Penarol is one of the two giants of Uruguayan soccer, along with fellow Montevideans Club Nacional, having been founded in 1891 as the Central Uruguay Rugby and Cricket Club. As CURCC, the team played in the first Primera Division season in 1900, winning the title against Albion Football Club in decisive fashion. To date, Penarol have won 50 Uruguayan Primera Division titles, five Copa Libertadores, and three Intercontinental Cups. These two magazines show fantastic color photographs of Penarol from the 1940’s and 1950’s. As the magazines were printed in Uruguay they are entirely in Spanish. The magazines are in fair condition and would make a fantastic display piece in any collection! These items come with a LOA confirming they are part of the Rony Almeida Soccer Collection.
