Offered is a lot of two 1946 St. Louis Cardinals group shot photographs from the Acme Newspaper Service. The first item in this lot is a 7 x 8-inch black and white posed photograph of four Cardinals infielders in their white home uniforms against a dark background. The photo, dated September 27, 1946, has a mimeographed caption pasted on the back, “Cards’ Infielders Wait for Game with Reds – St. Louis, Mo. – St. Louis Cardinals infielders wait for the opening of the game with the Cincinnati Reds Sept. 25th. Left to Right:  George “Whitey” Kurowski, 3rd; Martin Marion, SS; Albert (Red) Schoendienst, 2nd; and Stanley Musial, 1st. The Reds beat the Cardinals 6-0.” This photo has been encapsulated and authenticated by PSA (84128724) and classified as a Type I photograph. 

The second photo in this lot is a 6 ½ x 8 ½-inch black & white posed photograph of five Cardinals players in their home white uniforms posed on the top step of the dugout with bats in their hands. Left to right are:  Joe Garagiola, George Sisler, Whitey Kurowski and Stan Musial. There is a black ink stamp with an eagle and the caption “International News Photo”. In 1946, the Cardinals went 96–58 during the regular season and finished tied with the Brooklyn Dodgers for first in the National League. St. Louis then won a best-of-three playoff for the pennant, 2 games to none. In the World Series, they won in 7 games over the Boston Red Sox. They clinched the victory on Enos Slaughter's "mad dash" that gave them a 4–3 lead in the 8th inning of game 7. This photo has been encapsulated and authenticated by PSA (LOA 84132073) and classified as a Type I photograph.
