On June 10th, 1997, Kevin Brown pitched the second no-hitter in Florida Marlins history. Brown, taking the hill against the San Francisco Giants at 3Com Park, struck out seven and allowed only one baserunner in the Marlins 9-0 victory. In the bottom of the eighth, Brown retired Jeff Kent and Barry Bonds before plunking defensive replacement Marvin Benard, the Giants lone man on base during the game.
Offered in this lot is an Official National League Leonard S. Coleman baseball used during the no-hitter. Brown has signed the sweet spot in black pen, inscribing “6/10/97” next to his signature. “6-10-1997 / S.F.O. / Game Ball 6/10/97 / 1st No-Hitter / 9-0 Marlins” is inscribed on the panel south of Coleman’s stamped signature. This ball comes with a COA from JSA (V16307). Also included in this lot is a 15 x 12 inch plaque displaying a ticket to the June 10th game signed by Brown in blue marker. This signed plaque comes with a LOA from JSA (Z83917).
