Julio Emilio Suárez Sedraschi, also known by the pen name “Peloduro”, was an accomplished Uruguayan humorist, comic, and journalist active in the mid-20th century. Suarez also created and ran a magazine he titled Peloduro, focusing on contemporary events with a broad appeal across Uruguay from Salto to Montevideo. Offered in this lot are three Peloduro magazines from the first three years of the 1950’s. The first was published on August 16th, 1950, as an updated version containing the results from the 1950 FIFA World Cup won by the Uruguayan XI. It features a satirical image of the Jules Rimet Trophy on the cover. The second issue is from July 19th, 1951. The front and back cover show a caricature of the Uruguayan national soccer team. The third issue is from July 16th, 1952. The front cover shows an image of Uruguayan captain Obdulio Varela with the caption “Esta na terra carioca… …O gigante que nunca dorme”. Some stray pencil markings are present on the cover of this magazine. These three magazines originate from the estate of Obdulio Varela. o:p>
