Offered in this lot are three soccer-related telegrams, including two from 1950 relating to the iconic 1950 FIFA World Cup. The first telegram, received by the Uruguayan Football Association (AUF) on March 10th, 1950, refers to the World Cup as the “Copa Rimet” and sets up a meeting in Santiago, Chile, on March 16th. The second telegram, received by the AUF on April 19th, refers to requests made by the Brazilian Football Association in the lead-up to the 1950 World Cup, which began in late June. The final telegram is undated and discusses a series of soccer matches across South America from Asuncion to Guayaquil. The telegrams are in fair condition. These items come with a LOA confirming they are part of the Rony Almeida Soccer Collection.
