Detroit Pistons shooting guard Joe Dumars wore this uniform and shoes combination during the 1991-92 NBA season. Dumars, an All-Star in 1991-92, averaged 19.9 points and 4.6 assists per game for the 48-win Pistons. The six-time All-Star from McNeese State played with the Pistons until 1998-99 and was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2006.
The jersey and shorts in this lot are both from Dumars’ home white set. The jersey has “PISTONS” printed on the chest and Dumars’ number “4” printed on the chest and back, both in red and blue letters and digits. “DUMARS” is printed across the back shoulders in blue lettering. The sides of the jersey are accented with a red, white, and blue stripe, while a similarly colored pattern accents the sleeve and collar openings. A 1991 “Body Length +3” tag and a Champion size “42” tag is sewn on the front left tail. Dumars has signed the “4” digit on the back of the jersey in fine-tip black marker, inscribing “To Kevin” above his signature. This jersey shows light wear and comes with a COA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication (D84682).
Also included in this lot are Dumars white home shorts. They are accented with red, white, and blue on the waistband and sides of the legs. A NBA logo patch is sewn on the right leg. A Champion size “36” tag is sewn on the waistband with Dumars’ number “4” written on the tag in black marker. The jersey and shorts come with a LOA from noted game used jersey expert Dave Miedema, along with a LOA from a retired employee of the Detroit Pistons.
The final items in this lot is a pair of Dumars’ white and red Avia mid-top basketball shoes. The shoes show some wear, with areas of chipping in the red heels. An “Avia 825” tag is sewn on the tongue of each shoe. Dumars has signed the outside heel of the right shoe in blue pen, inscribing “To Leo / Best Wishes”. He signed the inside heel of the left shoe, inscribing “To Lisa / God Bless You” above his signature. Each shoe comes with a COA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication (D84683, D84684).
