On May 11th, 1996, Al Leiter threw the first no-hitter in Florida Marlins history. Leiter took the hill at Joe Robbie Stadium against the Colorado Rockies in a game that would end 11-0 in favor of the home team. Leiter struck out six, walking two, as Terry Pendleton paced the offense with five RBI and a homer.
The first item in this lot is a game ball from Leiter’s no-hitter. Leiter has signed the sweet spot of this Official National League Leonard S. Coleman baseball in blue pen, inscribing “5-11-96” below his signature. Additionally, Marlins infielder Kurt Abbot has signed the panel to the south of Coleman’s stamped signature. He inscribed “96 Marlins” below his signature. “No Hitter Ball 5/11/96” is written above Abbott’s signature. This ball comes with a COA from JSA (V16309). The second item in this lot is a ticket to the May 11th game signed by Leiter in black marker. This item comes with a COA from JSA (V16310). Finally, a 12 x 15 inch plaque featuring a portrait of Leiter and a second ticket to his no-hitter is included.
