On July 9th, 2011, Derek Jeter became the 29th member of the 3,000 hit club in dramatic fashion, launching a tape-measure home run into the left field seats for his first hit of the ball game. With that home run, Jeter became the first player in the long history of the New York Yankees to reach 3,000 with the team, an accomplishment not even Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, or Mickey Mantle could achieve.

Hitting his number 3,000 in this game was not enough for Jeter, as he finished the game a perfect 5-5 with two RBI, leading the Yankees to a hard fought 5-4 win over the Tampa Bay Rays. Jeter’s second RBI was the game-winner, singling home Eduardo Nunez in the bottom of the eighth inning. “The Captain” would go on to rack up over 400 more hits, finishing his career in sixth place on the all time hit list. A spot in Cooperstown surely awaits Jeter, and the Yankees will retire his number “2” during the 2017 MLB season.

This offered base was used during the fourth inning of Jeter’s 3,000th hit game, serving as second base. It shows excellent signs of use, including a plethora of dirt scuffs and marks. Jeter signed the top of the base in black marker, adding the inscription “3,000th hit 7-9-11”. This base comes with a MLB Authenticated hologram (FJ493976) authenticating the use of the base in the fourth inning of the July 9th game and a LOA from Steiner Sports. Also included is an encapsulated ticket from the July 9th, 2011 game. Robinson Cano is featured on the ticket, which has been graded an EX – MT 6 by PSA/DNA (19619981).

Mariano Rivera also made his mark during the 2011 season. The soon-to-be Hall of Famer set the all-time saves record with his pefect ninth inning against the Minnesota Twins during the September 19th game, preserving the Yankees 6-4 victory and collecting his 602nd career save. This lot includes the first base that was used during the first through fifth innings of this historic game. This base displays outstanding game use with dirt marks present. Rivera signed his name in bold black marker on the top of the base on the left side and added the inscription "602 SAVES 9-19-11". This base comes with a MLB Authenticated hologram (FJ806136) authenticating this use during innings 1-5 on September 19th and a LOA from Steiner Sports.
