Ken Griffey Jr. and Ken Griffey Sr. wore these offered white Seattle Mariners home jerseys during the 1990 MLB season. Griffey Sr. joined the Mariners in August of that season from the Cincinnati Reds, playing alongside his son for the first time in his career. On September 14th, 1990, father and son hit back-to-back home runs for the first time in Major League history. Griffey Jr. was in his second MLB season in 1990, hitting 22 homers with 80 RBI and an even .300 batting average. He made the first All-Star team of his career in 1990. In 2016, Griffey Jr. was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame with a higher percentage of the vote than any other player in Major League history.

These jerseys are both white button-downs with “MARINERS” sewn across the chest in blue and yellow tackle twill. The Griffey Jr. jersey has “24” sewn on the chest and back in blue tackle twill. “GRIFFEY” is sewn across the back shoulders in blue tackle twill over a matching white nameplate. The inside front tail of the jersey has Rawlings size “46” and “T” tags sewn on, with a “Set 2 1990” flag attached to the Rawlings tag. This jersey shows moderate wear.

The Griffey Sr. jersey has “30” sewn on the chest and back, with “GRIFFEY” sewn across the back shoulders in blue tackle twill over a matching white nameplate. This jersey has a Rawlings size “56” tag sewn on the front inside tail, with a “Set 1 1989” flag attached. This jersey shows light wear, and according to noted game used jersey expert Dave Miedema is “a 1989 shell put together on quick notice for Griffey Sr’s use after joining the Mariners during the [1990] season”. Both jerseys come with a LOA from Dave Miedema. Also included in this lot is an Official Bobby Brown American League baseball signed by both Griffey’s in black pen. Griffey Sr. has signed the panel to the south of the sweet spot while Griffey Jr. has signed the panel north of the sweet spot. This ball comes with a COA from JSA (V16312).
