Larry Bird entered the NBA at the start of the 1979-80 season and single-handedly revived a proud franchise. Bird played his entire career for the Boston Celtics as a power forward and small forward and would go on to be a three-time league MVP, and a three-time NBA Champion – earning him the nickname “Larry Legend” in Boston.

Offered are three items signed by Bird that include a Celtics jersey, a framed cover of The Boston Globe announcing his retirement from the NBA and a large limited edition lithograph. The Celtics jersey is a green mesh size 46 Champion jersey with all of the letters and numbers sewn on in white tackle twill. The NBA logo is embroidered on the top left shoulder and the Champion tag is sewn on the bottom front left tail. Bird signed his name in silver marker below his iconic “33” on the front of the jersey. This item comes with a COA from JSA (S31941). Please note there is a small stain on the left “3” on the front of the jersey, but does not detract from Bird’s signature.

The second item is a 14 x 22 full color page from the Wednesday, August 19, 1992 edition of The Boston Globe with the headline in green “THE END OF AN ERA Larry Bird Retires A Special Section” There are eight pictures depicting Bird throughout his legendary career with the center photo of him shooting a free throw signed by Bird in blue marker. The newspaper has been matted in green and framed to a dimension of 18 ¼ x 26 ¼ inches. This item comes with a LOA from JSA (Z58627).

The final item in this lot is a matted lithograph showing three images of Bird with the Boston Garden as the backdrop. The left image of Bird is in his blue Team USA uniform taking a shot. The large center image is of Bird in his road green Celtics uniform holding the ball at his stomach looking up to take a shot. The image of Bird on the right is of him in his home Celtics uniform dribbling while looking down. The Boston Garden backdrop shows the Celtics championship banners and retired numbers on the top of the artwork, with a capacity crowd. There is a white banner on the bottom right of the image that reads in red “19 FORVER BIRD – Allen Hackney 92”. This lithograph was done by artist Allen Hackney and dated to 1992 with a limited edition 259/1000. Bird signed his name in blue marker on the white portion of this print. This item has been matted in off-white to a dimension of 24 x 29 inches and only shows minor edge and corner wear. This comes with a STICKER ONLY from JSA (S34856) for Bird’s signature.
