Offered are a lot of three signed cards from three United States Presidents – Franklin D. Roosevelt, William Howard Taft and Herbert Hoover. The Roosevelt autograph is in black ink on a 3 x 5 inch white card embossed in blue “State of New York Executive Mansion Albany” with a the seal of the State of New York embossed in gold at the upper left corner. The card is mounted with three black paper corner mounts on a white 7 x10 inch card with black type script “Name:-Franklin D. Roosevelt Rank:-Governor of New York State Date of Office:-“ with “1929-1933” hand written in black ink. The Taft autograph is in black ink on a 2 ½ x 4 ½ white card, which is mounted with three black paper corner mounts on a white 6 ½ x 10 inch card with black type script and hand writing. The typed legend reads “Name:-Willaim H. Taft Rank:-Supreme Court Justice of the United States Date of Office:-“ with the handwritten notation “1921-Died March 8, 1930.” (Please note that the original has misspelled Taft’s first name.) There follows a typed “Note: Formerly president of the United States from 1909-1913.” The Hoover autograph is in blue ink on a white 3 ¼ x 2 ½ inch card, mounted on a 7 x 11 inch white card with four black paper corner mounts. (There is a 1 ½ x 1 ½ inch cut out on the large white card at the bottom right hand side of the card, approximately 1 ½ inches from the bottom.) The legend in black type script reads “Name:-Herbert Hoover Rank:-President of the United States Date of Office:-“ with the years “1929-1933” hand written in black ink. Hoover was the 31st President of the United States, while Roosevelt was the 32nd President, in office from 1934-1945. Taft was the 27th President of the United States and the 10th Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, the only person to hold both offices in U.S. history. All three items are accompanied by a LOA from JSA.
