In this lot are four original artworks signed by boxers of the likes of George Foreman, Willie Pep, Floyd Patterson and Aaron Pryor.
The first is a pair of Red Everlast trunks with George Foreman’s image painted onto the left leg of the trunks. In the painting Foreman is looking directly at the viewer in his fighting stance, and signed the trunks on the right leg. The colors of the painting are vibrant and were laid down with a careful hand. Foreman was a phenomenal boxer and has been inducted into the World Boxing Hall of Fame and the International Boxing Hall of Fame. The International Boxing Research Organization has named Foreman the eighth greatest boxer of all time.
At number nine in the IBRO’s list of top ten boxers of all time is Guglielmo Papaleo, better known as Willie Pep. The 20 x 24 inch framed artwork displays Pep wearing his championship belt and wearing old time boxing gloves appropriate for the time period he professionally boxed. Pep’s lightning fast hands and devastating power are what made him one of the best and he signed this piece of art in the upper left corner in silver marker.
The next contender is Floyd Patterson; Patterson known for his “peek-a-boo” stance was the youngest heavyweight champion in boxing history at the age of 21. Patterson turned pro and steadily rose through the ranks, his only early loss being an eight-round decision to former Light Heavyweight Champion Joey Maxim. This 24 x 27 inch framed artwork shows Patterson in his signature “peek-a-boo” stance smirking at the competition and was signed by him in gold marker.
The final boxer in our countdown is Aaron Pryor. Pryor went on to be the WBA welterweight champion and maintained a 20-0 with 18 knockouts record. This 9 x 12 inch acrylic artwork was signed by him in blue marker. This entire lot has been pre-certified by Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication.
