From his first season in the big leagues, Willie Randolph grabbed the nation’s attention by being selected to the AL All-Star team and competing in the World Series.  For the next five seasons the Yankees would either compete for the World Series or the American League Championship every year except 1979 creating the Billy Martin lead dynasty.  Martin managed the club from 1975-78 and again in 1979, 1983, 1985 and 1988 after a tumultuous relationship with owners and players caused several gaps in his management career with the Yankees.  All these seasons with the exception of 1975 Willie Randolph, who complied this collection of 5 team signed baseballs, was also with the club.

The first baseball is an American League Lee MacPhail stamped baseball with a total of 16 signatures including Chris Chambliss, Graig Nettles, Lou Piniella and Willie Randolph.  The Billy Martin and Sparky Lyle signatures have been deemed clubhouse.  The second baseball in the offering is another Lee MacPhail ball and consists of 24 signatures including Ken Griffey Sr, Don Mattingly, Dave Winfield, Goose Gossage, Graig Nettles, Bert Campaneris, and Roy White.  The ball dates to Martin’s 1983 term as evidenced by signatures of Brian Dayett who debuted in 1983 and was traded in December of 1984 and means that the baseball was signed during Mattingly’s rookie season with the club.  The signatures of Billy Martin and Yogi Berra have been deemed clubhouse variations on this baseball.  The third baseball in the group comes from the same era and is also on a Lee MacPhail baseball.  This baseball is boldly signed and features 27 signatures including Yogi Berra, Graig Nettles, Ron Guidry, Roy White, Willie Randolph, Lou Piniella and Bert Campaneris.  The signatures of Billy Martin and Dave Winfield have been deemed clubhouse.  The final two baseballs in this collection are Bobby Brown baseballs and date to the 1985 season where Martin for the second to last time took the helm within the Yankees clubhouse.  One of the baseballs features a genuine Martin signature on the sweet spot while the other has a stamped signature.  One of the baseballs has 28 signatures while the other offers 23.  Both baseball shave Dave Winfield, Don Mattingly, Ron Guidry, Ken Griffey, Willie Randolph, and Phil Niekro.  One of the baseballs also includes Joe Niekro and Hall of Famer Rickey Henderson.  This grouping of Billy Martin era team signed baseballs all has toning present and varied conditions of signatures and comes pre-certified by Beckett Authentication.
