Wayman Tisdale was a crucial part of the loaded United States Olympic Basketball Team at the 1984 Los Angeles Summer Olympics. Pro players were still prohibited from appearing in Olympic Tournaments, so Tisdale and a cadre of other college stars, including Michael Jordan and Patrick Ewing, took the court for the USA. The United States cruised to an 8-0 record in tournament play, dispatching Spain by 31 points in the final game to clinch the gold medal. This was the final basketball gold that an amateur United States team won. Tisdale was the leading rebounder for the United States, pulling down 6.4 boards and scoring 8.6 points per game.

Offered here is a collection of five items personally owned by Tisdale originating from the 1984 Los Angeles Summer Olympics. The first item is his Opening Ceremony-worn outfit, consisting of a red, white, and blue tank-top t-shirt, blue and white pants, and a red, white, and blue jacket. This outfit was made by Levi’s, and it comes in the original garment bag.

The next item in this collection is Tisdale’s Levi’s gym bag. It is red and blue, with a 1984 Olympics patch sewn on one side. Tisdale’s original luggage tag and Southwest Airlines tags remain attached to the bag. Finally, two flags owned by Tisdale are included in this lot. The first is white, with “USA” printed on the front in bold red letters over the Olympic rings. This flag measures approximately 70 x 45 inches. The second flag is also white, with a red ABC logo printed over black text that reads “SPORTS”. It measures approximately 47 x 47 inches. This lot comes with a LOA from Regina Tisdale, the wife of the late Wayman Tisdale.
