Offered in this lot are five commemorative bats deriving from the collection of Hall of Famer Bobby Doerr. Doerr spent all 14 years of his career with the Boston Red Sox, missing only the 1945 season due to his military service in World War II. Doerr was a nine-time all-star and was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1986. Each bat was made for the specific Hall of Fame year and feature numerous facsimile signatures both in gold for the current members of that time or in green for that year’s inductees. The first bat is from the 1987 class with the inductees being Ray Dandridge, Jim “Catfish” Hunter and Billy Williams. The second bat is from 1989 with the inductees being Johnny Bench, Carl Yastrzemski, Red Schoendienst and Al Barlick. The 1993 bat has the lone inductee in green of Reggie Jackson, while the 1994 bat has the inductees Leo Durocher, Steve Carlton and Phil Rizzuto in green. The final bat is from 2002, with this particular bat having Ozzie Smith, the lone inductee’s name in a gold box on the barrel. This collection of bats come with a LOA from the family of Bobby Doerr.
