Offered in this lot are six vintage Uruguayan soccer pins dating the 1920’s. Four of these pins were produced by Willys-Knight to promote their new model of automobile, the Whippet. These four pins show the immortal soccer legends Jose Leandro Andrade, Jose Nasazzi, Roberto Figueroa, and Juan Arremon. Printed on these sky-blue and white pins is “Homenaje de Whippet y Willys Knight” and the name of the player on the pin. Applied to the back of the pin is an advertisement for the Montevideo-based Willys-Knight dealer Juan Shaw. The final two pins in this lot are also sky-blue and white, however these pins are also printed with “Campeon de Football / Olympiadas de Paris 1924”. The pins feature the soccer players Alfredo Ghierra and Pedro Arispe. The pins measure approximately .75 inches in diameter and are in good condition. These items come with a LOA confirming they are part of the Rony Almeida Soccer Collection.
