Before Hall of Famer Cal Ripken, Jr. could break Lou Gehrig’s historic consecutive games played streak, he would have to tie him. That’s exactly what Ripken did when he suited up for the 2,130th consecutive time on September 5th, 1995 against the California Angels. These six warm-up items were worn by Cal when he tied Lou Gehrig’s historic consecutive games streak on September 5th, 1995. The first item in this lot is a size XL Structure all-black t-shirt. The Structure tag is sewn on the inside back collar with a yellow identification tag that is clipped to it that reads “005.001.020 2130undershirt bag19.” Ripken’s number “8” is also handwritten in black marker on the Structure tag. The next item is a pair of Nike Spandex shorts. These pants are also all-black and have the Nike swoosh printed in white on the lower front left leg. Ripken’s number “8” is handwritten on the swoosh in fade black marker. The Nike tag is sewn on the inside back waist and has Ripken’s number “8” handwritten in black marker. There is a yellow ID tag pinned to the Nike tag that reads “005.001.019 2130spndx-shrts bag19”.

The next set of items include a pair of white underwear (boxers) that have Ripken’s number “8” handwritten in black marker on both the front and back waistlines. A yellow ID tag is pinned to the back waist tag and reads “005.001.007 2130underwearbag1”. A yellow ID tag is pinned to the front manufacturer’s tag on the front and reads “005.001.015 2130 jock bag19. The next items are a pair of Franklin batting gloves. These gloves are all-black with orange on the backhand. A white patch with “FRANKLIN” in black is on the orange backhands and the black wrist straps have “RIP-8” in white. Each glove is tagged with a yellow ID tag that are pinned to each glove (005.001.009ab 2130bat-glve bag19). The final item is a pair off all-black long socks. Ripken’s number “8” is handwritten in white on both socks and a yellow ID tag that reads “005.001.005ab 2130 sox bag1” is clipped with both socks together.
