After retiring from his 18-year career as an outfielder and pinch-hitting specialist “Sweet Lou,” Piniella made a seamless segue into his managerial career beginning as a hitting coach with the Yankees in 1985. This button down, "Wilson" size "42" NY Yankees pin-striped home jersey. Piniella’s name, year and set number "Piniella 85 2" are stitched onto a strip tag sewn into the collar. The Yankees added black arm bands in honor of late equipment manager Pete Sheehy which were later removed from the jerseys. The jersey shows light wear with a couple of small dirt stains on the back collar a splattering of reddish drops spotting the lower back shirt tail. Wilson manufacturers’ logo tag on bottom left tail contains PSA/DNA sticker (#U69423). Piniella signed the jersey in bold blue sharpie with a “#14” inscription on the right front panel and added a “Sweet Lou” inscription on the left panel below the Yankees interlocking NY; Comes with PSA COA for signature and full letter of authenticity from game worn jersey expert Dave Miedema.
