Slovenian-born Dallas Mavericks phenom Luka Doncic participated in the NBA’s MTN DEW ICE Rising Stars Challenge Game during the NBA’s All-Star Weekend on February 15th, 2019 and again on February 14th, 2020 at the United Center in Chicago. The Rising Stars Challenge features NBA rookies and sophomores split into two teams: Team USA and Team World, with the NBA’s ever-growing international players playing against their American counterparts. Doncic played 24.01 minutes during the 2019 Rising Stars Challenge, scoring 13 points with 5 rebounds, 9 assists, and 2 steals during Team World’s 161-144 loss to Team USA on February 15th, 2019. Doncic would return to the game as a sophomore, and the 2019 NBA Rookie of the Year would play 23.45 minutes and score a team and game-high of 27 points with 6 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals during Team Worlds’ 151-131 loss to Team USA during the 2020 NBA Rising Stars Challenge.
