Complete home plate over which Mariano Rivera threw his last pitches at The Stadium. The Yankees-Steiner Collectibles and MLB documentation accompanying this piece certify it as having been used from September 24th through the 26th, the later date being Rivera's last appearance in pinstripes.
The Sandman came into the game in the 8th and retired the side, then struck out one batter in the 9th before exiting Yankee Stadium for the last time. The Hall of Fame-bound closer signed the plate in bold black marker, listing the importance of the piece: "Final Game in Pinstripes 9/26/13 1173 S.O. 652 Saves 2.21 ERA 5x W.S. Champs Exit Sandman". The full, regulation home plate shows great game use and a small amount of Yankee Stadium turf still clings to it.
