The inimitable Michael Jackson owned and wore this authentic Naval military jacket in 1983 at an event hosted by Don King to promote the then upcoming Victory Tour, which began in 1984. Jackson reached his unapproachable zenith during this timeframe, releasing Thriller in 1982. Thriller was the first album certified 30 times Platinum by the RIAA, and it won eight Grammy Awards – including the Grammy for Album of the Year in 1982. After the release of Thriller, Jackson embarked on his final tour with the Jacksons, 1984’s Victory Tour, before releasing his follow-up studio album to Thriller, Bad, in 1987. The jacket was later given as a gift by Jackson to a fan just before the release of Bad, in December of 1986, through a request made to his chief of security, Bill Bray.

This offered jacket is slim-fitting, as would be expected of the spritely Jackson, one of the best dancers and showmen in popular music history. This jacket is double breasted, with two rows of gold buttons running down the chest. Pinned to the collar are two shiny gold anchors. A small eagle patch is sewn on the left breast, while patches featuring a small gold anchor are sewn on each sleeve. The sleeves each have three buttons and three parallel gold stripes. A tag on the interior of the jacket reads “Regulation US Naval Officer’s Uniform” and “Wender & Goldstein, Inc. 387-4th Ave, New York City”. This vintage jacket was crafted in March of 1944 for “Mr. H.E. Broadbent”. A tag denoting this information is sewn inside the interior pocket of this stunning and historic jacket. Michael Jackson items from the famed Victory Tour are highly sought after among Jackson collectors and this jacket comes with a Letter of Authenticity signed by Michael Jackson. The signed LOA has been authenticated by JSA, which provided an LOA (Z67479) authenticating Jackson's signature.
