This vibrant color photograph of Mickey Mantle was taken by famed sports photographer Ozzie Sweet. Sweet was renowned for his ability to not just take a photo, but for creating images that appeared larger than life. Nowhere is that more evident than in this photograph of Mantle. The fearsome slugger is in his batting stance with a pure blue sky behind him. While a shadow covers his face, it is still alive with the personality that made “The Mick” one of the most beloved baseball players in the history of the game. Sweet signed the bottom right corner of this photograph in black pen. The photograph measures 20 x 24 inches and comes in a 26 x 30 inch frame.
In another life, this photograph hung in one of Mickey Mantle’s restaurants. Mantle was very active in numerous businesses after his retirement from baseball, operating numerous restaurants, hotels, and even a clothing line with fellow “M&M Boy” Roger Maris. This photograph comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (AC03355).
