Presented is a Mickey Mantle inscription and signature on a Wilson baseball. Mantle was signed by the New York Yankees to a minor-league contract on the day he graduated from high school in 1949, and he broke into the big leagues in 1951 at age 19. He played for the Yankees for the next 18 years, retiring right before the 1969 season. He slugged 536 homers, drove in 1509 runs, and was a career .298 hitter. A three-time MVP and Triple Crown winner (1956), Mantle led the Yankees to 12 World Series in 14 years; the Bronx Bombers won seven of those Fall Classics. Mantle was elected into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1974. The Baseball Hall of Fame centerfielder has inscribed “To Vicki Best Wishes Mickey Mantle” in blue pen to the right of a black “Official Adoption League” stamp on the Wilson baseball.
