They were known as the M&M Boys, and in 1961 they provided a year’s worth of subject matter for the New York sportswriters of that era. Not only did this dynamic duo help lead the New York Yankees to another World Series championship, they were neck and neck most of the 1961 season in chasing after babe Ruth’s record of 60 home runs, eventually broken by Maris in the final game of the season. This Louisville Slugger bat was produced in the early 1980s to commemorate that historic season. The bats were limited to a run of 115, which is the combined home run total for Maris and Mantle in 1961 (61 Maris, 54 Mantle). This bat is numbered 33 out of 115 and both greats have signed their names in bold blue marker on the barrel below their engraved signatures and home run totals for 1961. This bat comes with a full LOA from JSA (X00419).
