The entire Cold War era was marked by opaqueness and an unwillingness to cooperate. This changed when Mikhail Gorbachev led the Soviet Union. He earned a Nobel Peace Prize for his policies of glasnost and perestroika, which opened the Soviet Union to outside actors and led to the end of the Cold War. This photograph shows Gorbachev and Ronald Reagan sitting at a desk, scribbling notes in their binders. Gorbachev signed this photograph in black Sharpie. This item comes with a JSA COA (P82080).
